Advanced CT imaging at Archway Vets.
Faster answers. Better decisions. Exceptional care, close to home.
We're proud to offer advanced CT scanning on site at our Lindale practice, helping us diagnose conditions quickly and accurately without the need to travel further afield.
Our Canon Aquilion Lightning 80/160 slice CT scanner represents a major investment in the care we provide for your pets.
A clearer picture of your pet's health.
Computed Tomography (CT) is an advanced diagnostic imaging technique that uses X-rays and computer technology to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body.
Unlike traditional X-rays, which produce a two-dimensional image, CT scanning allows veterinary surgeons to examine structures from multiple angles and build detailed three-dimensional views.
This additional detail can help identify conditions that may be difficult to detect using conventional imaging, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Detailed imaging
CT provides detailed views of bones, joints, organs and other internal structures, helping our veterinary team investigate complex conditions.
More informed decisions
Detailed images can help our vets understand the extent and location of a problem, supporting diagnosis, surgical planning and treatment.
Available at Archway
With CT scanning available on site at our Lindale practice, many pets can undergo advanced imaging without travelling to a distant referral centre.
When might your pet need a CT scan?
CT scanning can be particularly helpful when investigating conditions that need more detailed imaging than traditional X-rays can provide.
Our veterinary team will assess your pet and advise whether CT scanning is the most appropriate next step.
Lameness and orthopaedic problems
Fractures and joint disease
Spinal conditions
Nasal disease
Chest and lung conditions
Abdominal conditions
Some neurological conditions
Internal abnormalities or masses
Planning for surgery
Advanced technology. Specialist expertise.
Investing in the latest diagnostic technology helps us provide the highest possible standard of care for your pets.
At Archway Veterinary Practice, we're proud to have a Canon Aquilion Lightning 80/160 slice CT scanner installed at our Lindale practice.
This advanced equipment allows us to capture detailed images of internal structures, helping our veterinary team investigate complex conditions and make informed decisions about treatment.
CT images can also be reviewed with specialist radiology support, providing additional expertise when interpreting findings and planning the next steps in your pet's care.
What to expect during a CT scan.
We understand that arranging advanced diagnostic tests for your pet can feel daunting. Our team will explain the process and keep you informed throughout your pet's care.
Initial assessment
Your vet will discuss your pet's symptoms, medical history and any previous investigations to decide whether CT scanning is appropriate.
Preparation & anaesthesia
Pets generally require sedation or general anaesthesia to remain still during the scan. Our veterinary team will explain the preparation and monitoring involved.
The CT scan
Your pet is positioned on the scanner table while the equipment captures detailed images of the area being investigated.
Results & next steps
The images are reviewed by the veterinary team, with specialist interpretation where required. We'll discuss the findings and recommended next steps with you.
Every pet is different. We'll explain the arrangements for your pet's scan, including preparation, anaesthesia, recovery and when to expect results.
Supporting your pet every step of the way.
At Archway, advanced imaging is just one part of the care we provide. Our facilities and experienced team help support pets through diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Specialist surgical expertise
Where more advanced treatment is required, we work alongside referral surgeon Kris Herman, allowing many surgical procedures to be carried out here at Archway.
Combined with our on-site CT scanner, this can help provide continuity from diagnosis through to treatment, reducing the need for some patients to travel elsewhere.
Supporting recovery and wellbeing
Our Chartered Physiotherapist-led Rehabilitation Centre provides additional support for pets recovering from injury or surgery, as well as those with ongoing mobility needs.
With veterinary physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and other rehabilitation services available, our team can help support your pet beyond their initial diagnosis and treatment.
For pets requiring hospitalisation, our nursing team provides overnight care on site, supporting patients who need additional monitoring and attention.
