Castration

Castration is ideally performed in the spring and autumn months, when the ground is soft, dry, and flies are at a minimum. We begin all castrations with a pre-anesthetic check and confirm both testicles have descended. We perform our castrations under general anaesthesia - allowing good visualisation and swift removal of both testicles.

We advise all castrates to have been vaccinated prior to the procedure in order to ensure maximum protection against tetanus and basic handling not only allows a less stressful experience, but improves overall safety.
