Advanced CT Imaging at Archway Vets

Faster answers. Better decisions. The very best care for your pet.

We are proud to offer advanced CT scanning on site at our Lindale practice.

Our Canon Aquilion Lightning 80/160 slice CT scanner represents a major step forward in the level of care we can provide. This is one of the most advanced scanners in UK veterinary practice — and the first of its kind in a first opinion practice.

For our patients, this means faster, more accurate diagnosis, without the need to travel further afield.

What is a CT scan?

CT (computed tomography) uses X-rays to create highly detailed, cross-sectional images of your pet’s body.

These images allow us to assess bones, joints, soft tissues, and internal organs in far greater detail than standard X-rays — helping us get clearer answers, sooner.

When might a CT scan be recommended?

CT can be particularly helpful when investigating:

- Lameness and orthopaedic problems

- Fractures and joint disease

- Spinal conditions

- Nasal disease

- Chest and lung conditions

- Abdominal conditions

- Some neurological conditions

- Internal abnormalities or masses

- Planning for surgery

Because scans are very fast, we can gather a large amount of information in a short period of time.

Our scanner

We have invested in a Canon Aquilion Lightning 80/160 slice CT scanner, a state-of-the-art system designed to deliver high-resolution images with very short scan times.

This level of technology is typically found in specialist centres and hospitals, and forms part of our ongoing commitment to reinvesting in the facilities and services we offer at Archway.

Expert support when needed

Where appropriate, scans can be reviewed by specialist veterinary radiologists, ensuring an accurate and thorough interpretation when required.

What to expect

If your pet requires a CT scan, we will guide you through the process and explain exactly what is involved.

Scans are usually performed under sedation or general anaesthesia to ensure your pet remains completely still. Our team will always advise on the safest and most appropriate approach.

Once complete, we will talk you through the findings and the next steps in your pet’s care.

Advanced care, close to home

Having CT available on site means:

- Quicker diagnosis

- Less need to travel

- Faster decisions about treatment

- A more seamless experience for you and your pet

Where more advanced treatment is required, we also work alongside referral surgeon Kris Herman, allowing many surgical procedures to be carried out here at Archway.

Combined with our 24-hour nursing care and Chartered Physiotherapist-led Rehabilitation Centre, we are able to support patients through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery — all in one place.
